Jackery Showcases Sustainable Innovations at COP28, Advocates for Global Green Energy Transition
Jackery, a global leader in innovative portable power and outdoor energy solutions, participated in the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12. Representing the forefront of green energy sector, the company was invited to a side event at COP28, where it shared practical experiences in promoting low-carbon sustainable development and advocated for global acceleration of the green energy transition.
In recent years, climate change has posed challenges to nations worldwide. From Berlin in 1995 to Dubai in 2023, the 28 international gatherings of global communities have strived for a single consensus: achieving the global 1.5-degree temperature control goal. Amid the current global landscape, the process of carbon neutrality and the green energy revolution is more urgent than ever. As the most crucial annual event to address the climate crisis, COP28 brought together nearly 200 signatories and attracted various sectors of society to discuss climate-related issues. The attendance at this year's conference surpassed the 2009 Copenhagen summit, reaching a record-breaking 80,000 participants.
COP28 conducted its first-ever global inventory, encompassing greenhouse gas emission sources, overall effectiveness of signatory nations' voluntary contributions, and the overall progress made by these nations in implementing their voluntary contributions. Notably, driving energy transition became the major consensus among nations, with the vigorous development of renewable energy emerging as the preferred strategy for most countries globally.
On December 2nd, COP28 President Sultan al-Jaber announced the "Global Decarbonization Accelerator" (GDA) during the World Climate Action Summit. Against the backdrop of increasingly severe global climate change issues, propelling green and low-carbon transformation in the energy industry has become a global focus.
During the event, Jackery showcased its advanced green energy solutions. Through live demonstrations, the company highlighted the applications and value of solar generators in various scenarios, emphasizing the importance and feasibility of a low-carbon lifestyle. The presentation aimed to inspire stakeholders to accelerate the global transition to green energy and lead a green, low-carbon way of life.
In a speech at COP28, Tracy Wang from Jackery underscored the critical need for businesses to prioritize carbon neutrality as a fundamental corporate strategy. The company is committed to establishing a world-class, all-encompassing digital zero-carbon new energy industrial park, targeting 100% renewable energy usage by the end of 2025. By the projected deadline, Jackery aims to reduce its unit product pollutant generation by 1% compared to 2021 and decrease unit product carbon emissions by 6%, contributing to global climate goals. Jackery’s two solar panel products and eight portable power products have received carbon footprint verification from TÜV SÜD, a leading international third-party certification organization.
As of August 2023, Jackery has sold solar panel products capable of generating 587 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, resulting in a reduction of 585,000 tons of carbon emissions. This is equivalent to planting approximately 397,000 trees. The company continues to explore green and low-carbon pathways in production and operation, promoting the overall transformation of the industry towards green and sustainable development.
Additionally, Jackery has actively engaged in corporate responsibility initiatives, providing thousands of Jackery solar generators to areas affected by natural disasters globally. The company has also joined forces with international organizations such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the World Wide Fund (WWF), and the National Forest Foundation (NFF), contributing to ecological protection through its products.
Recognized as the "Apple" of the portable power devices by Forbes, Jackery has sold over 3 million units of its products, covering more than 30 countries worldwide. With subsidiaries established in Germany, Japan, and other countries, the company is gradually achieving localized operations, aiming to cover over 100 countries in the next three years.
COP28 marked the beginning of a new era for global climate action and energy transition. Jackery, embodying the spirit of "Let's turn ambition into action," has internalized this core principle as the driving force behind its corporate development. With a vision for the long term, the company is not only at the forefront of innovation and transformation in the field of renewable energy but also plays an increasingly vital role in advancing environmental protection and global sustainable development. Looking ahead, Jackery will collaborate with global energy technology companies to accelerate the green energy transition, jointly ushering in a new era of green and low-carbon living.
